The Jewish New Year
It's amazing, amusing, to me (albeit anomalously ironic,
Considering I grew up amidst flagrant anti-Semitism,
In redneck-state America),
That Congress would recess,
Out of respect for Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish new year),
Despite the unfolding financial crisis, apocalypse,
Gripping this terrified nation and others,
Suspend its debate over the $700 billion bailout/rescue
Hatched to eradicate the ever-consuming black hole of debt.
Could it possibly be (though no one I know is saying so,
In so many words, intimations, innuendos)
That, all over again, it's the blood-sucking, usurious Jew
Who's the canker at the base, heart, root of the problem,
Unleashing the age-old worldwide financial conspiracy theory
Now causing Wall Street's shell game to come atumble,
The suspicious, pernicious Hymie, in his newest incarnation,
Who's behind the adjustable-rate-mortgage Shylock scheme,
The Christ-killing whiz-kid yid who's responsible for this meltdown?
Or is there another reason, in all this chaos,
That we've yet to see, assess, analyze, wildly guess at?
Maybe it's the verminish Jew-worm having the last laugh,
The final word — the final solution to the Gentile problem,
In which the world's wealth burns in the furnaces,
Drifts up the stacks. Not even the sky's the limit.
