Morning Epiphany
Upon awakening, this early autumnal a.m.,
You were possessed by a stunning realization,
A revelational vestige from one of last night's dreams:
All your days past, sixty-seven years' worth,
Were but a prologue to a work in progress
You recognized was beckoning you, from afar —
A polestar epiphany
In which the life left to your inscrutable opportunities
Would be illuminated by innovative cave drawings
Forming a map guiding you, through the cosmic darkness,
To the silence beyond quietus,
Where the ultimate truths of tranquillity are manifest
And solemnity is a blessing beyond human understanding,
Knowable to all souls who, seeking serenity,
Come to see that existence is ever expanding.
