A Nice Night

If ever there were such a thing as a nice night alone,

A night on which to be just by myself,

Get in touch with my quieter angels,

This Saturday night is perfect,

For any of the numberless reasons I can't enumerate,

In the embrace of this mellow feeling accompanying me.

Could it be that despite a tinge of loneliness,

I'm reveling in my ethereal freedom,

Realizing my spirit's beholden to no one, not even itself?

There have been too few moments as illuminating as this,

In which I've been able to see meaning

Within the nimbus of my existence's emptiness,

Read, in the silence of that infinite space, my essence,

The origin of and justification for who I am.

It takes a nice night like this to reacquaint myself with me.
