The Far Side

Every once in too great a long while's beguilement,

A revelation comes to someone,

That redeems the sleeping mind, from empty dreams,

Awakens that somnolent she's or he's imagination,

To possibilities previously unconceived.

Most of us persist, with our petty paces,

Racing time, in our deluded steeplechases,

Toward the far side of the dark-faced moon,

Believing that fate has disenfranchised us

From ever seeing the light of night — lunar illumination.

This evening, by myself, again,

I contemplate what it must be like to come alive,

Return from the far side of the grave's dark face,

Glowing with all-knowing's wisdom,

Primed to receive the gift of becoming, and I weep.
