GDP

Though we've swindled ourselves into irreversible insolvency,

We believe that the Dow's current sucker rally, dead-cat bounce,

Isn't a fool's-gold recovery on a yellow-brick road

To bottomless toxic-asset disaster

And that, soon, we'll be buying back our foreclosed houses,

With used-toothpaste-tube and flat-tire collateral,

Which the banks will repackage as the new Monopoly money

They'll trade to Uncle Sam — Mediterranean Ave. for Boardwalk —

And that all our garage sales, eBay auctions, Craigslist liquidations,

Our classified ads in what's left of the newpapers,

Offering up our cherished heirlooms and beloved junk,

Won't become the basis of our GDP — Great Depression Poverty.
