Overwhelmed
Like dense fog rolling in from an empty ocean,
An invisible pallor, then an odorless stench,
Overwhelmed his unsuspecting essence,
From the outer extremities of his flesh,
To the innermost recesses of his corporeal reservoir.
He'd not experienced, ever, anything so mortifying,
Not even in his most grotesque nightmares.
Though sunrise came, he never saw the dense fog lift.
