The Faithful
I'm a member of the worldwide congregation of acolytes
In the Universal Church of Apostolic Nonreligionists,
A believer in the indissoluble bond intertwining all humankind,
A secular ethicist with a deep bent toward ecumenism,
A devotee of the natural spirituality
That makes, of us, a collective monotheistic godhead.
I regard every person as a corporeal church,
Indeed a god — God, indeed — in body, energy, and spirit.
I see the soul and the mind as fungible, indistinguishable, one.
With regard to organized theology,
I have no use for dogma, hypocritical exclusivity
Elders, shamans, ayatollahs, priests, and rabbis arrogate,
In the name of suzerainty over cosmology and moral order,
Imposing themselves between worshipers and salvation.
In fact, the world would be better served not being saved.
Bad Friday, Worse Saturday, Worst Sunday —
That's how I envision this weekend.
What else would you expect from a skeptic as faithful as I?
