Forsaken
Today, you awakened from your entire life,
To find yourself abjectly forsaken,
Left for dead, in the middle of an amorphous crater
Located somewhere beyond last night's bad dreams —
A carcass in a zone of phantasmagorical nowheres,
Not defunct enough to sigh a last gasp of mortal relief,
Rather sufficiently resilient to realize the reality
That you'll have to live an eternity of eternities
Before you finally gain earthly release
From the terrible neglect that afflicted your spirit
When God rejected your soul and your intellect,
After you insisted you were an atheist,
While looking at Him, eye to eye,
As though He were as invisible as sin and forgiveness.
