Not-So-Fuzzy Math
A three-month review leading President Barack Obama
To his monumental surge-then-exit Afghanistan strategy,
Plus three dozen systematically evolved intelligence reports,
By advisors and analysts, as to the most efficacious plan,
After ten meetings with his national-security team,
Equals thirty thousand troops, a million dollars each, per year,
To battle the one hundred Taliban left in Afghanistan,
Factored into a trillion-dollar war price tag, over the next decade.
Eight years stymied in this senseless Mideast quagmire,
And, now, helplessly facing eons of inescapable escalation
Promulgated with what the public has been lobbied to believe
Are judgments made, in moral conscience, by our leader
(A novice who's never been the chief executive of anything,
Let alone offered himself up to the rigors of armed service),
We're at the mercy of a strenuously-arrived-at decision,
Whose foundations are embedded in the delusional lunacy
Of supporting a Satan in cobra's disguise — Hamid Karzai,
Who spits in America's blind eye, for fun and profit.
And here we are, sinking deeper into this viper's pit —
$8.3 billion a month, $274 million a day, $190 thousand a minute.
