Reading
I never leave home, on my journeys to nature's true north,
Without my trusty shoulder-slung portmanteau
Bulging with a complement of literature I long to explore,
Despite my realizing, from experience, that in ten days' time,
If I finish three or one of these volumes, I'll set a record
(Overzealously, I hope to read the dozen I've brought).
It's always a good idea to be weighed down by books —
The widest selection from the world's finest minds —
Just in case I find my own company wanting.
What's more, in the unlikely event that I do get bored,
I'll be able to consult their oracles, portrayals, visions,
To map my way back to imagination's front door.
But I believe I know why I never get lost in my reading:
There's so much more to glean from the woods and the lake,
So many stories and myths in their ancient pages.
