Glorious Kingdom

Although it's taken us nearly seven meandering decades

To make our complicated ways to each other,

Over long-ago-crossed bridges spanning our rushing streams,

Through plush meadows filled with brilliant daffodil children,

Valleys bordering tribulations, sorrows, woes,

Hilly forests of buoyant joys, divinities,

We've finally recognized, identified, acknowledged one another,

Out of the entire sky of our ever expanding lives,

As kindred-spirit spheres,

Heavenly bodies illuminating our late-blooming years,

Our halos aglow with love tempered in the flames of innocence,

The explosive midlife eruptions of uncontrollable volcanoes,

The celestial radiance of that sacred light,

Which bathes us in experience's sense of a higher wisdom.

And how right, how comforting, how natural it now seems,

That we two disparate spirits,

Who've known each other's histories and personalities

For less than six months,

Feel so certain we've been related for generations, millenniums,

That you and I — lovers, to be sure — were sister and brother,

Once upon a godly Adam and Eve Creation or two ago,

Had our birth in the same fecund, nurturing garden,

Grew from an identical seed,

And were destined to reach this place in spatial time,

No matter how improbable, unlikely, unbidden, impossible.

For all our blessed todays, hand in hand,

We'll make this Eden our home, explore its glorious kingdom,

And let timelessness be our abiding guide.
