The Coalescing
We had to wait eternities
For the past five days and nights to coalesce.
And now that they have,
Our adversity-tempered souls
Can remember, again,
That letting go
Is slower than the melting of polar ice floes
And that surrendering one's heart to a loving other
Is a suspension of disbelief
Not even time can regulate or define,
A once-in-an-eon of lifetimes.
The ecstasy we share is so deep,
We're certain it will outlast
Whatever regrets our past may yet cling to.
