Sundays Together
The best way for us to spend Sunday together Is to invest it with spiritual reflection and secular pleasure, Muse on the Lord's presence and today's sway, The eternal, the immutable, the steadfast, And the give and take, touch and go, here and now of our lives, Listen, with our eyes' ears, our ears' eyes, To each other's chests and peaceful smiles, And just let existence weave its serene breathing Into our lips' kisses and fingertips' whispers, Which, all week, together or in other rooms of the heart, Will recite love poems before they even write them.
