The Moment's Spur

There's nothing like deciding to take a three-day vacation,

Nothing more exciting, inspiring, than actually doing so,

Flying off to Chicago, early on a Thursday morning,

Arriving at Midway, taxiing into the Magnificent Mile's embrace,

Occupying Executive Suite 834, in the Drake Hotel,

With its grand view of Lake Michigan's sandy shoreline...

Nothing like seeing spontaneity as the be-all of freedom

And soul-growth as the end-all of wanderlust...

Nothing like losing yourself to the moment's spur

And finding a you who does things you'd never do,

Sets aside routines, sequesters responsibilities, just goes...

Nothing like you and your lover being in complete agreement

That the only agenda you'll heed will be your hearts',

Both realizing that this is the time of your lives' prime,

When, hand in hand, thigh to thigh, mind with soul,

You'll seize each second and freeze it — eternity's now.
