Strange

"Strange" isn't a sufficient adjective

For communicating how I feel, on arriving home,

Having stayed, played, made love, with you,

For almost two entire weeks.

"Strange" fails to shape understatement

Into an approximation of just how alone I feel,

On descending into sleep, this evening,

Seeking solace from solitude,

After an interminable afternoon,

Flying away from our inseparableness.

"Strange" can't compare to "sad," "dislocated,"

And "sad," "dislocated" can't convey "pained,"

Which, itself, is too feeble a surrogate

For "diminished," "disconnected," "incomplete."
