Lullabies and Dawn Songs
For nearly two Laguna Beach weeks,
Sleeping side by side, peacefully,
Like mesmerized children
Listening to their comforting parents
Whisper them to and from slumber,
With mellifluous lullabies
And dream-streaming dawn songs,
You and I, Linda,
Have surrendered, with primal trust,
To the sea waves' sibilant verses,
As they've taken us away from
And returned us to each other,
Whenever sunrise and midnight
Have reversed their transcendence,
Inspiring our hearts,
With the tides' breathing,
And blending our blood
Into the oceanic flow of the cosmos.
