Family
Home again, tonight, in my life apart from you,
I reflect on our too-brief visits, in Manhattan,
With your sister Denise,
Cousin Rene, high-school friend Vicky,
Our time, in Wellsville,
With Marshall, Jen, Connor, Jaida, and Jaxson,
Realize that this is what my existence has been missing —
Kinship's closeness, togetherness, sharing, intimacy —
And recall how, before we parted,
You took my hands, kissed my lips,
And whispered, "Now you have a larger family."
