Wednesday-Morning Love

I

Though my soul, mind, and body

Walk around naked,

Nobody sees them that way.

They know no shame,

For they're clothed in your love.

II

We're both so grateful

That we've waited,

With a grass blade's patience,

To reach this age,

When peace is all we need,

Peace and love

And the abundant wonder

Of how it took two lovers

Such a long now

To grow through their I's and me's,

To the selfless transcendency

Of their us and we.
