Dance
Indian, African, flamenco, hip-hop, jazz, tap, and modern dance,
Classical and contemporary ballet —
The demonstrative body's ultimate dramatic language,
Formed, shaped, by the head, arms, torso, legs, and toes,
Speaking to uninitiated souls,
Those of us who only communicate, with tongues and lips,
Among members of our troupe of awkward talkers,
Not dialogue with the farthest stars, the universe, the heart,
Through movements fluid, sensual, sublimely timeless,
Anything but mind-bending, -binding, -blinding...
Celestial steps beckoned from the heights of pre-primal life,
Vocabularied and choreographed by the maestro of the cosmos...
Gestures capable of expressing the ineffable essence
Of everything yet to be imagined, dreamed, conceived...
Dance, that enhanced enchantment
The bones will still be intoning, long after they've gone still.
