Home Visitation
One final time,
The majestic, four-columned-portico 1940 white manse,
Located on what was once almost seven acres, in Ladue —
9933 Litzsinger Road —
Which the five of us kids shared with our generous parents,
At various somewhens, over the past sixty years,
After they moved in, during the summer of '51 . . .
One final time,
For a joyous four hours devoted to our mother's visitation,
That gorgeous house opened its doors, heart, soul,
To embrace those of us who, in our youth,
Knew its spacious refuge as intimately as it knew us,
And invited us, once more, to absorb its warmth, its love —
We who'd come to sigh, never say good-bye.
