Our History
The history we're composing,
Which began two poetic years ago,
Appears to be written in cosmic ink,
Ever more clearly, with each trip we take
To the remote realms of revelry
And on each stream-of-consciousness weekend
We hide away from society,
In the tree house we've been piecing together,
One symphony, Corvette ride, movie,
One hike, museum visit, restaurant, at a time,
Binding it with pristine-gold daydreams
We've been unwinding from a ball of twine
Love has spent all its days accumulating,
So that two romantics like us
Might discover, by chance and divine plan,
Just how devoted a woman and man can be
When effecting affection
Is as easy as holding hands, intermingling fingers,
Intimating intimacy
Is as simple as smiling, laughing, winking,
And evoking emotion
Is as effortless as waking up together, naked.
