Starting from Today
Awakening into Monday's parting hour,
We cling to an enlightenment:
Though we've grown older,
Our love has become younger,
During the ninety-six hours
We've celebrated your sixty-ninth birthday.
Maybe each new day,
Starting from this very Monday moment,
Will be another twenty-four hours
We'll add to your round-the-clock nativity,
Until we're mere kids again,
Of nine or six, six or nine.
