Love's Affirmations
Ten days of tending to each other's gentlest attentions Are coming to an end, this commencement of our week apart. Feeling the nearness of our separation, We spend this Monday morning splendoring our senses, Shaping our romantic emotions into articulations Our longing will translate into affirmations we'll take with us, Once you say good-bye to me, at the airport, And witness my silhouette disappear, in your rearview mirror . . . Expressions of affection meant to blend our isolations Into the oneness at the center of the universe . . . Our nurturing words, blessed by the life-force of light — "I love loving you so deeply"; "I love being loved by you"; "Never have I known such closeness"; "Nor I such touching"; "I love who we are"; "And I love us."
