I found David Herrle's questions challenging and provocative, most especially when he asked me to discuss my favorite authors from my graduate school years and how they influenced my work; why I harbor such disdain for George W. Bush's politics; and what my thoughts are on mortality.

The interviewer requested that I elaborate on why it is that I have written over three hundred and fifty Holocaust poems, since 1967. The explanations I found for him found me, made me highly uncomfortable. I was shocked by how candid I was with Mr. Fishman.

I took great joy in giving this interview to David Herrle, because his questions touched on five facets of my writing career that have always been of prime interest to me, not the least of which is what I consider passion to be and the role it plays in my creativity.
