From Bondage to Bond
These days of the civil war Between our two major political parties, The United States could sure use a good dose of hope,
An infusion of inspiration and faith, To buoy our sagging belief That the future intends to include us in its unfolding,
A human force capable of persuading nations As well as our own struggling citizens, That America is devoted to their needs, their woes,
A mind vibrant, curious, capacious, relevant to the times, Open to wise counsel, visionary conciliation, Not narrowed with hubris, delusions of grandeur,
A voice speaking, by the electorate's consent, For the benefits, rights, and security of a free people, A leader whose word is our bond — Barack Obama.
