The Offer
If only someone had told me, clued me in,
Sent me a memo that hell would be so hellish,
I'm quite certain I'd not have refused
The offer He said was "an offer you can't refuse."
But I did,
And I did so with hubristic defiance
That's landed me in God the Father's disgrace,
Exiled me to this fiery necropolis,
Without so much as the damnedest chance
Of vindicating my bad name,
Pleading for mercy, begging for salvific afterlife.
This infinity, I brood on the offer I refused.
