The Longest Nights
I used to believe that evenings spent alone
Were the longest nights.
But these days, I've begun seeing things
Altogether differently,
For the scintillating company I've been keeping.
The hours dissolve with such fleet speed,
They leave me gasping not for breath but for time,
As I ask how it can pass so fast.
And I crave, beg for something more lasting:
Eternity alone, with my soul.
