Flights

She flew into my life

Like a glorious gathering of doves,

A shimmering of near-pure whiteness,

Hovering, like a halo...

Flew into my eyes,

Just like that,

And transmuted their emptiness to delight.

Then, after twenty years elapsed,

She flew out of my life

Like a ghostly spiraling of smoke,

A drifting of near-invisible grayness,

Disappearing in a puff...

Flew out of my eyes,

Just like that,

And transformed their delight to emptiness.
