Sunday-Morning Quartet
I
We found ourselves, in each other.
II
You are who I am.
I am who you are.
We are each other.
III
Why did it take us so long
To find each other?
Was it because we always went so fast,
In our younger lives,
Never made time slow down,
Or was it just that we couldn't know
To start looking for each other
Until the stroke of late-middle age told us
That the short and the long of it
Was now or never?
IV
You and I see the world
Through each other's smiles.
The world sees us
Every time we gaze into its smile
And see each other.
