Throbbing Still Life with Rotted Eggplant and Avocado

I

"We always see the glass half full...

Of shit.

"Through our half-assed glass, we see the world darkly.

"Through rose-colored glasses, we see our half-full glass

Half-assed empty of feces.

"Through the glass darkly, we don't see the glass at all.

"The half-full glass sees us completely full...

Of feces.

"Our half-empty glass gives us a full pass on matters darkly and feculent.

"Beware of glasses half-full of half-empty, classless, gaseous,

Half-assed jackasses bearing Greeks."

II

"We're celebrating Passover, under the overpass.

"Under the overpass, we're passing out.

"Passing over and out, under the overpass,

Is the outcast's 'in' thing to do

When we're over the influence of the underpass.

"Or is it under the influence of the overpass?

"Or is it, perhaps, a matter of impasses

Under and over the over-and-under Passover rites of passage?"

III

"When's enough not nearly enough?

"When's enough enough?

"When's enough too much?

"When's enough a too-tough-nut enough to crack?

"When's enough not nearly enough of a good thing?

"When's enough way too much of a bad thing?

"When's enough of enough enough of enough of a good/bad thing?

"When's enough not hardly enough of not nearly enough

Of a too-good-enough of a too-bad-enough of a thing enough?

"And when's enough-of-enough-is-enough-of-enough-is-enough

Enough of enough-of-enough-is-enough-of-enough-is-enough-of-enough

To be enough to always be enough,

Even when enough is almost not enough but is?"

IV

"Is it truly too bad to be bad?

"Is it too good to be truly too good?

"Is it too truly true to be true, truly,

If it's truly too good to truly be truly true?

"If it's too good to be truly bad,

Is it too truly bad not to be better than good?

"And truly, if it's not too bad or not too good,

Being good or bad,

Are bad and good even true, when, truth be told,

Good is bad, and bad is good, for good or bad?"

V

"Let us Greeks dispense with enough of a truly bad thing,

By celebrating Passover, under the overpass,

And other such irreligious religiosities,

In six forked-tongue parts of the parting Red Sea of Reeds,

Which saw, through its half-assed-empty glasnost, fully,

That enough would never be bad enough to truly do good

In a time of feces-full pharaohs who truly believed, truly,

That the firstborn sons of Enough's Father of Nations

Should never scatter their huff-and-puff, hot-to-trot Hebe seeds

Throughout the Milky Way of children too numerous to count,

Wombed in six darkly, feculently half-empty-/half-full-enough glasses

Of rose-colored rosé in a not-nearly-holy-enough Holy Grail, full of holes."

VI

And when they finished, just before they completed the passing out,

All of them, as one inbred outcast,

Out of reverence issuing out of their paroxysmally diarrhetic orthodoxy,

Unhinged their foreskins, then the front door,

And left, on the back porch of hellishly hot desert sands,

A full-and-a-half plate of rotted eggplant and avocado.
