Voluptuaries
Daybreak and I awaken,
Side by side, naked.
Sunrise is last night's satisfied mistress.
I, a spent dream, dress in silence,
Leave morning to her voluptuous wiles.
She just might dive back into sleep's womb.
I have too many unknown miles to fly
Before losing myself to night's enticements
For the millionth-and-one time in my life.
And even if I did decide to stay,
Who could guarantee we'd recognize each other
Or that what I'd miss,
By circumventing fate's dictates,
Would be the lesser of destiny's pleasures?
